Description
The “Early Vermont Settlers” project is a study group at the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) which began in 2015 and is led by Scott Andrew Bartley. This multi-year effort will provide sketches for all families who settled in what is now Vermont by 1784. “Drew” is on the first series of the project going up to 1771. The study group is being researched town by town, completing one before moving on to the next. Each sketch will cover the head of household, their spouse(s), and their children. Their origins and anything that can be found on the family by 1771 will be included. Less detail will be given for after that date, but all vital and probate records that can be identified will be included. As part of his updates about the study project, Drew will describe some of the lessons learned and the new sources that have been identified.
