This is the second of two talks discussing how to find your Irish ancestors. In this presentation Ed McGuire focuses on the most useful Irish collections for identifying your specific ancestors and their parish or townland. He will explain the various terms used to describe Irish land jurisdictions and identify the major record sets – as well as how to use them. And he will provide a set of specific search strategies. From parish registers to vital records, census substitutes to court cases, Irish newspapers and even DNA testing – they will all be covered along with examples. This talk will also include a detailed handout with sources, locations and website addresses.
